Kodak Colorplus 200<\/strong> is a 36 exposure ISO 200 color film. Kodak’s most economical reel<\/a>, very versatile in different light conditions.<\/p>\n

WHAT IS KODAK COLORPLUS 200?<\/h2>\n

Kodak ColorPlus 200 is one of the cheapest 35mm color negative films still available.<\/strong> It is cheaper than Kodak’s other consumer color films,Gold 200<\/a> and Ultramax 400.<\/a> But, as we’ll see later, don’t let this make you think it’s worse.<\/p>\n

Subtitle for this section – What is Kodak ColorPlus 200? – is perhaps more pertinent than you think.<\/p>\n

As you can see in the images in this article, the pot does not match the box. It’s a different design and is oddly labeled Kodacolor 200.<\/p>\n

As none of these films are mentioned on Kodak’s own website, alongside the Portras and Ektars of this world, There is some confusion about what ColorPlus really is, but that is not to say that there is no information about it<\/strong>, and a little research has led us to this:<\/p>\n

Kodak released a film called Kodacolor II<\/strong> in 1972. This was replaced by Kodacolor VR 100<\/strong> in 1983. The VR film range was based on the technology used in old Kodak disc films. Since these disc films had a higher speed of agitation, Kodak found that the Kodacolor emulsions doubled their speed. The ISO 100 emulsion became ISO 200.<\/strong><\/p>\n

IMAGE QUALITY OF THE COLORPLUS 200<\/h3>\n

For the following pictures Kodak ColorPlus has been shot on several different cameras and in several different conditions.<\/p>\n

The first rolls were on a Canon Sure Shot AF-7 point ‘n’ shoot on an overcast day and on an Olympus Supertrip point ‘n’ shoot on a sunnier day. The last roll, taken with a Yashica Electro 35 GSN, was also “lucky” to have good light.<\/p>\n

In all cases, the results benefit (depending on taste) from the inherent warm tones of the film.<\/strong>When it is cloudy, this film makes it appear less cloudy; when it is sunny, it makes the light appear cooler than it really is.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In neither case is it an Instagram filter-style effect, but it’s on the right side of neutral if you like warm shots. <\/strong><\/p>\n

That said, there is a certain vintage look to the photographs, which makes sense if you are shooting with an old emulsion. This aspect is favoured by this yellow tone, but also by the contrast obtained and the grain, which is perceptible but never excessive, in our opinion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In any case, here are some photos taken with the Canon Sure Shot AF-7 to show what is possible with a cheap camera on a cloudy day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WITH COLOURPLUS 200<\/span><\/h3>\n

Kodak ColorPlus 200 is a good film for street photography for several reasons:<\/p>\n

The first is price. As mentioned, it is one of the cheapest colour negative films available today. The Kodak Gold 200<\/a> is another film that is also not very expensive and also provides that ISO 200, but it is still not as cheap as the ColorPlus.<\/p>\n

Depending on the aesthetic you’re going for with your street photography, those sunny tones can be a good thing or a bad thing. But at least you know what you’re going to get before you shoot.If you want a cooler look, maybe you should go for theFujicolor C200<\/a>, although since Fuji’s last stop the price has gone up a lot, making it not so interesting compared to the Colorplus 200.<\/strong><\/p>\n

KODAK COLORPLUS 200 SPECIFICATIONS<\/h3>\n

Kodak ColorPlus 200 is a 35mm colour negative film with ISO 200 and 5500k, daylight balanced and available in 24 or 36 exposure rolls, we have 36 exposures available.<\/strong> It has a DX code and is revealed with the C-41 process, available here in our lab.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

We have not been able to find a Kodak ColorPlus 200 data sheet anywhere, but we did find this original Kodacolor II manual<\/a>, which we believe is the origin of ColorPlus in one form or another.<\/strong><\/p>\n
